Organisation Overview:
The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC) is a high-impact global non-profit dedicated to placing human rights at the core of business. Operating across over 30 countries, BHRRC works with partners and communities worldwide to advance corporate accountability, climate justice, and human rights, focusing on workers, communities, technology, and defenders. Gender and racial justice are integrated across all programmes.

Position Summary:
BHRRC is seeking an International Programme Director to co-lead the organisation as part of its Senior Management Team. The role involves managing international thematic programmes, supporting strategic direction, and building partnerships to drive impact globally. The Director will collaborate closely with Regional Programme Directors and lead teams across supply chains, natural resources, digital technology, and human rights advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and contribute to organisational development, operational management, and external representation.

  • Lead thematic international teams, supporting programme strategy, research, advocacy, and alliance-building.

  • Oversee programme management, monitoring, and impact assessment across global initiatives.

  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, civil society, governments, and business stakeholders.

  • Support high-quality internal and external communications, ensuring coherence and advocacy impact.

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across teams and programmes.

  • Take on additional responsibilities to support organisational growth and resilience.

Line Management:

  • Five programme heads and two cross-cutting team leads.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience in human rights, economic justice, or related fields.

  • Minimum 7 years managing diverse, high-performing teams in international contexts.

  • Proven track record of strategic leadership, programme design, and measurable impact.

  • Strong fundraising and financial management experience with institutional and government donors.

  • Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages an asset.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience engaging communities in the Global South.

Location & Work Conditions:

  • Flexible; remote or from offices in London or Berlin.

  • Must work at least four hours daily overlapping 09:00–13:00 UTC.

  • Full-time, 35 hours/week, with potential meetings across time zones.

Compensation:

  • GBP 65,000–80,000 per year (UK equivalent), plus 5% pension and standard health benefits.

  • 24 vacation days plus public holidays.
