At the COAST Facility, embedding Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) is central to our work. In coastal regions and fish supply chains, women are the primary marketing entrepreneurs, and indigenous communities provide vital traditional knowledge. Historically underrepresented, these groups are a focus of our efforts to ensure equitable participation and sustainable project outcomes.
The GEDSI Officer will drive initiatives that promote inclusion, equity, and empowerment for women, youth, people with disabilities, and other marginalised groups. This involves raising awareness within communities, engaging local leaders, and integrating traditional knowledge into project design. The role also focuses on fostering GEDSI-responsive and transformative programming, in line with COAST’s GEDSI Framework.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Review, update, and implement country-level GEDSI strategies and action plans.
-
Ensure GEDSI is embedded across technical assistance, grants, and project activities.
-
Build and maintain partnerships with organisations focused on GEDSI, including OPDs, women’s rights groups, and youth networks.
-
Support training and capacity-building initiatives for teams and partners on GEDSI practices.
-
Integrate GEDSI considerations into grant and project evaluation criteria.
-
Monitor GEDSI outcomes using disaggregated data and document lessons learned.
-
Coordinate with safeguarding teams to address potential GEDSI-related risks.
Location: Maputo, with travel to project sites.
Contract: Until 31 March 2026 | Salary: GBP 1,400/month (gross)
