About This Role
Ashby is seeking a Staff-level Engineer who can design and build to join our remote team across the Americas. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of design and engineering—where you won't have to choose between the two disciplines.
As Co-Founder Abhik Pramanik explains: "I always felt I had a unique perspective because I could play with design ideas and iterate in code. My ideas could start in Figma but then be grounded (or sometimes more creative) in code." At Ashby, you'll have that same freedom to design and build comprehensively.
Key Responsibilities
- Tackle Ashby's most challenging design and engineering problems, combining user research, wireframing, and implementation
- Expand and enhance our in-house design system, making it more flexible and composable for other engineers
- Consult on bespoke design work, helping teammates improve information hierarchy, scannability, and user experience
- Build intelligent, powerful software that serves working professionals—starting with talent teams and recruiters
- Design products that are approachable for beginners but powerful enough for advanced users (we benchmark against spreadsheets)
What You've Done
Your background includes projects such as:
- Redesigning complex applications after conducting customer research and wireframing new user flows
- Building flexible, composable component libraries that enable other engineers to create custom, data-driven UI elements
- Improving product usability by enhancing information design and helping teammates refine their design approach
- Contributing to or leading design system initiatives that scale across engineering teams
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of full-time experience as a frontend engineer, or an evenly split career between frontend engineering and product design. You must have significant contributions to (or leadership of) design systems work. This is a staff-level position requiring proven expertise in both disciplines.
