About the Role
Commons is hiring a Social Media Manager to build and execute our complete social strategy across every major platform. This is not a posting scheduler role—we're seeking a strategic thinker who understands narrative, moves with platform agility, and genuinely cares about sustainable finance. You'll cultivate the Commons brand, grow a engaged audience aligned with our values, and convert followers into quality app users. You'll be the voice of Commons online, collaborating closely with the CMO and marketing team to transform our mission into content people actually want to engage with.
What You'll Own
- Instagram (Primary Channel): Full ownership of feed, Stories, and Reels. Set the aesthetic direction, write captions, develop content strategy, and grow an audience aligned with company values. Balance polished brand content with authentic, lo-fi moments that convert.
- YouTube: Develop strategy for Shorts (discovery-focused) and long-form content (authority-building around sustainability, financial health, conscious spending). Think in content series, not isolated posts. Comfort with on-camera and behind-the-scenes work.
- TikTok: Create platform-native content with algorithmic fluency. Deploy trending audio, original concepts, brand breakdowns, and founder moments. Pitch ideas and execute them.
- LinkedIn: Support thought leadership content on the company page with distinctive voice and perspective.
- Threads: Build early-mover advantage with conversational, sharp, opinionated content.
- Reddit: Manage community presence in sustainability and personal finance subreddits with cultural awareness and authentic participation.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage monthly content calendars across all channels
- Create original content: copywriting, short-form video, graphics design
- Handle daily community engagement: respond to comments, DMs, mentions
- Track performance metrics weekly and use data to inform strategy adjustments
- Monitor platform changes, emerging trends, and cultural moments in sustainability space
- Collaborate with marketing and executive teams on brand voice and campaign alignment
Ideal Candidate
You have 2-4 years of social media management experience, preferably in fintech, sustainability, or consumer app growth. You're fluent in multiple platforms and understand the distinct culture, audience, and content formats of each. You have a point of view about sustainability and conscious consumption. You move fast, take ownership, and use data to validate creative decisions. You understand platform algorithms without being imprisoned by them. You can write engaging copy and ideate visual content that stops scrolls and drives engagement.
