The Role

As a Senior or Staff Fullstack Engineer, you'll work on mission-critical systems that power Linear's platform. You'll be a generalist who tackles diverse technical challenges—from database design to user-facing features. We're looking for experienced engineers with strong JavaScript fundamentals, React expertise, and TypeScript proficiency who can independently solve complex problems and contribute to our scalable foundation.

• User-facing features spanning the full stack: database models, GraphQL resolvers, and UI components
• High-performance data synchronization systems using optimized serialization protocols
• Real-time collaborative editing capabilities in our content editor
• Performance improvements through profiling and virtualized list rendering optimization
• Production-grade analytics, monitoring, and alerting systems for operational excellence
• Open-source contributions from non-trivial product innovations
• Best-in-class software development processes for purpose-built product development

Technical Stack

Frontend: React, MobX, styled-components with a proprietary WebSocket data sync framework built for speed and offline support.

Backend: Node.js, PostgreSQL, Temporal, Redis, and GraphQL API/SDK serving extensive integration needs.

Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform with Kubernetes orchestration, GitHub, Slack, and Notion integration.

Advanced Systems: Pluggable agentic workload system utilizing Temporal at production scale, designed for real-world reliability and performance.

Location & Work Mode

Linear is remote-first with flexibility across North America and European timezones. We emphasize deep focus and asynchronous collaboration, with intentional in-person moments through team off-sites, optional co-working, and occasional travel.
