The Role

As a Software Engineer at Obsidian Systems, you'll work on challenging projects across diverse domains including fintech, blockchain, AI, data science, and enterprise software. You'll collaborate with a fully remote, distributed team of experts to design and build robust, scalable, and impactful software systems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing new applications and systems from the ground up
• Writing clean, testable, and well-documented code following best practices
• Participating in thoughtful code reviews and architecture discussions
• Debugging, optimizing, and improving existing systems for performance and reliability
• Contributing to testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes
• Exploring new technologies and applying them to real-world problems
• Collaborating across time zones with a distributed, fully remote team

What We're Looking For

You're a craftsperson who takes pride in building elegant, reliable systems. You thrive in remote environments where initiative and clear communication are as valued as technical skill. You should have:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Hands-on experience in one or more domains: fintech, blockchain, AI, data science, open-source, or enterprise software
• Strong functional programming background (Haskell and/or Rust experience highly preferred; Nix Ecosystem knowledge is valuable)
• Solid grasp of system design and architecture principles
• Proven experience collaborating on distributed, fully remote teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across time zones
• Contributions to open-source functional programming projects (preferred)
