Job Description

About MAI

At MAI (pronounced "my"), we're democratizing advanced advertising technology. We believe cutting-edge marketing tools—once exclusive to enterprises with massive budgets—should be accessible to everyone. Our platform uses AI agents to automate and optimize performance marketing, empowering small and mid-sized businesses to scale ad spend profitably without agencies or endless manual campaign management.

Founded by ad platform veterans from Google and Instacart, MAI has raised $25 million in Seed funding led by Kleiner Perkins. This capital accelerates product and engineering team expansion. Our AI agents have proven their value, helping clients drive 40% more sales while managing millions in monthly Google Ads spend. Our client waitlist grows daily.

Why Join Now

Building infrastructure for autonomous, intelligent agents is a new frontier—and we're writing the manual. As a New Grad Software Engineer, you won't just write code; you'll contribute to architecting the entire ecosystem where AI agents live, learn, and operate. This is a rare opportunity to apply deep research expertise to real-world, high-impact problems while building a truly AI-native product from the ground up.

You'll be an athlete on a small, focused team of fewer than ten engineers with immense impact and the ability to shape our company's future. We're forming three core teams:

  • Product Engineering & Infrastructure
  • AI Platform & Foundation
  • Agent Application & Quality

You'll have unique opportunities to learn and grow your skillset. We encourage you to leverage your specializations while tackling new projects, learning from peers and becoming a well-rounded engineer.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and Prototype Novel Solutions: Apply advanced research skills to design and prototype new features for our core agentic platform, exploring cutting-edge algorithms and architectures to improve autonomous agent capabilities.
  • Build Robust Infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain critical infrastructure supporting our autonomous agents, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance across distributed systems.
  • Collaborate on AI Development: Work with cross-functional teams to implement and optimize AI models, contributing to agent quality and real-world application development.
  • Drive Impact: Take ownership of projects that directly influence product direction and company growth in the autonomous marketing space.

Ideal Candidate

You're a recent graduate with strong fundamentals in computer science, demonstrated problem-solving abilities, and genuine curiosity about AI and distributed systems. Research experience, published work, or substantial open-source contributions are valued. You're eager to learn quickly, thrive in early-stage startup environments, and contribute meaningfully to cutting-edge technology.

💰 Compensation not publicly listed. Market estimate for similar roles: from $120K, varying by experience and location.
